I genuinely enjoyed the book, it kept me entertained and invested throughout. I thought the base concept was really interesting and it was executed very well. All of the characters were done well, and none of them were actively annoying. It makes sense that the trilogy sold over 25,000,000 copies. The reason it's not a 10/10 is because its not the best nor favorite book I've ever read. Still very good. The movie however...

The movie was... y'know... just okay, serviceable even. As a movie adaptation, it gets the job done, but that's about it. I didn't love the cinematography, some scenes just felt kind of awkward, and not in the way they were going for. Obviously, the movie is condensed compared to the book, which is a necessary evil that all movie adaptations have to do to some extent, but it just seemed a little excessive in this one. The characters didn't get nearly as developed as in the book. Don't get me wrong, I think it was cool to be able to see all of the places described in the book to be brought to life, but as a method to tell the story the movie kinda falls flat. Also, the way they did the exposition for the Games at the start of the film was so weird and seemingly rushed. Like, it looked like an iMovie template that they just threw in last second because they forgot to explain it during the actual plot.
